marsh maple

This was one of my favorite plants, but I never found out what it was. It has a striking, glossy leaf that has some resemblance to a maple leaf. We saw it a lot with this particular kind of moss, which it grows right through. The leaves start out green but seem to turn a reddish-brown as they age, with the red starting at the edges and moving inward.
