Fox Island spit

We went on a "Major Marine" tour boat ride which was pretty interesting. This is Fox Island spit, on Fox Island in Resurrection Bay. You see these little spits all over the place -- the park ranger on the cruise told us that when the earthquake happened, the land here dropped 6 feet. This land stayed above sea level, but the roots were suddenly soaking up saltwater instead of fresh, so the trees died (and were well-preserved, since they're still here 40 years later!).
