tomato anemone
Alas, I saw no starfish in the wild, but I did see this bizarre creature which I never identified. It was about fist-sized and had red and green coloring which exactly matched the colors of green and ripe tomatoes. It was pretty firm and had a little opening on the top which apparently could get quite big. It wasn't until I'd seen several that I found this one with the hole open and an anemone-like thing coming out. If it gets disturbed, the hole closes up around the tentacles and it looks like a mouth with lips pursed.
