it's not even a flattering fit!

And then, on the 19th, we drove back to Anchorage, found a parking lot, and managed to cram all our stuff back into a form that would be acceptable to the airlines. We got the crack in the windshield fixed (and it didn't even happen on a gravel road!) and returned the car, and then we were ready to go home. Wow.

Sadly, our red-eye flight left after sunset, so we didn't get the cool mountain views we'd gotten on the way in (yet we managed to get no sleep). We arrived at RDU on Friday around noon, and were met by Dad and Lolly and Finner, sporting a stylish "my moms went to Alaska and all I got was this stupid shirt" shirt. Finner, having spent five fabulous weeks at Camp Lolly, didn't need anything from Alaska, but the shirt stretches the truth nonetheless -- we did bring him some salmon treats. The shirt was courtesy of the Camp Lolly staff (Savannah and Lolly). Thanks, guys, for taking such great care of him!

We were quite pleased to see everyone, and having a greeting at the airport made the transition back from vacation a lot more enjoyable.
